Audit and evaluation of HRM

The term "auditing" refers to a thorough and systematic examination of the HR system of the company's operations, records, and rules. An efficient HR audit aids in identifying areas where the HR function has to be enhanced and improved. Additionally, it directs the business in remaining compliant with laws and regulations that are constantly changing. Thus, HR audit aids in examining the discrepancy between a company's current HR function and "what should be or should be the greatest potential HR function." Despite the fact that HR auditing is not required, unlike financial auditing, businesses are choosing to conduct routine HR audits in order to confirm that the current HR system is in line with company policies, strategies, goals, and objectives and legal needs. The entire process of HR auditing is broadly segmented into the following phases:

Details of the pre-audit

Review of the company's policies, HR manuals, employee handbooks, reports, etc., which serve as the foundation for working at the Company, is part of the pre-audit information phase.

On-site evaluation

The following stage of the on-site evaluation includes surveys, questionnaires, interviews, observations, informal discussions, and other approaches to get the necessary information from the employees.

Records analysis

The phase of records review requires a thorough examination of the current HR files, records, statistics on employee absenteeism and turnover, employee claims, notices, compensation performance evaluations, etc.

Assurance Report

Based on this study, the audit's final report is put together with pertinent conclusions, a summary, and suggestions that emphasize the HR function's advantages and disadvantages as well as any essential improvements.

There is a significant amount of quantitative and qualitative data gathered in the first three rounds. The size of the target audience, the amount of time available, and the type of data to be collected all influence the data gathering strategy. Thus, the HR audit helps the business apply internal resources as effectively as possible to maximize the effectiveness of its human capital. The HR processes and resources can be streamlined, and exercises can be done in accordance with the company's best practices and standards.
