I sometimes wonder and believe that the two courses overlap and are duplicates of each other. On closer inspection, I came to realize that these two jobs are quite different. They both have to do with buildings. Let's examine what a structural engineer does and what a civil engineer does.

A civil engineer is a person who designs and supervises the construction of buildings and structures. A structural engineer primarily has to do with how to manage the load of a building. They ascertain if a building can carry the load put on it. So while a civil engineer does the design of a building, a structural engineer seeks to ensure that the building does not collapse. The two aspects of engineering are very important in the construction of a building or structure. Without a civil engineer, there would be no building in the first place. Without a structural engineer, the buildings would collapse. Both are very important.
