The first step to starting a farming business is to decide what you want to grow. Do you want to raise chickens? Or maybe you’re interested in growing your own organic produce. The type of farm you decide to build will depend on the crops and animals you want to raise, as well as the amount of space available on your property.

If you have no experience with farming, start small by raising just a few animals like rabbits or chickens, or even children's pets. Once you've gotten the hang of it, work up from there by adding more animals and crops.

You can also choose from several different types of farms that are specifically designed for beginners:

Growers Guide: A Growers Guide helps new farmers get started in agriculture. It includes information about establishing a successful farm business and how to get started planting seeds or seedlings. It also includes information about soil preparation and pest management techniques for specific crops and pests.

Rural Living: This site offers advice on how to start your own farm business as well as tips for running an efficient operation from both an animal husbandry perspective (raising livestock) and from a farming perspective (planting seeds, harvesting fruits).

You have actually listed the broad forms that farming has. Some people decide to focus on one side and leave the other. But actually, farming entails both the rearing of animals and crop cultivation usually for use by humans.

Now in starting up a farming business as you have mentioned, you must be able to decide what exact kind of farming you will begin. There are things that can help you decide like your preference, the locality in which you live and the kind of products they value, and also the accessibility of your business.
Moreso, your past knowledge on the farming profession can also help you in making that choice.

Once you have got that, then next is you need to start working towards understanding the whole scope of your intended farming business. If it is poultry farming, you must know what it entails and how to achieve best results. Then you must also source for capital and find the suitable location to kick start.
