How to get more or different assistive tech in NDIS plan?

  • Participants should check their plan's funding first if they need different or more assistive technology. They might be able to use their current funding to get what they need.
  • NDIS made the plans flexible so participants can choose how to spend their funding. Their my NDIS Contact, or support coordinator can assist them.
  • Participants don’t always need to buy new assistive technology to meet their needs. They can consider renting, borrowing, or buying second-hand. They can talk to their assistive technology advisor about what's best for them.
  • If participants' funding doesn't cover what they need and their situation has changed, they can ask for a plan change. They need to send any info or evidence about their assistive technology needs to start this process. Participants can contact NDIS to guide them what information to provide and through the next steps.
