I have a friend who is a sound engineer and he recently got a gig to organize sound for a government concert in my state. That was his highest-paying gig and now his profile as a sound engineer has shot up. With this rising stock comes more high-profile jobs and gigs. So how do you build your profile to be recognized as a skilled person in any field?
The first thing to do is to make sure that you are exceptionally good in your field. Whether you are a graphics designer, fashion designer, or any other skill you have, you must be gifted in order to raise your profile.
The second thing you have to do is to accept gigs no matter how low the pay is. It is not about the payment but the experience and exposure you are getting. As a beginner, don't be selective of jobs. Just keep on working and in no time, you would be noticed.
