Frying foods is a fun way to treat yourself and your family, but it's not the healthiest cooking method. But there are ways to add a healthy touch to your deep-fried cravings and no, we're not talking about salad.

1. Get a good fryer.

When you can't shake that fried food craving, get a good deep fryer that lets you control the temperature. Why? Because frying at the right temperature can reduce the amount of oil that penetrates your food, which means it'll be lighter and healthier for you (and tastier!).

2. Don't use old oil.

Change your frying oil often enough so it doesn't get old and start to oxidize, which is bad for your health.

3. Use the right oil.

Some oils have a higher smoke point than others, which means they burn faster at high temperatures and can ruin the taste of your food. Oils with high smoke points include avocado oil, peanut oil, coconut oil, olive oil, and sunflower seed oil but if you're in doubt about what kind of oil to use, just ask your local grocery store produce manager! They're usually happy to help.
