A Normal business is entitled to making profits and losses too. However we can minimise or prevent the occurrence of losses in the business.
Most businesses make losses through theft. This can be shoplifting ( theft made by customers) and also there is theft that is done by the employees. A business must therefore implement the right policies to curb theft of the business assets and merchandise by employing a good security services to man the business premises.
The business must also implement high detectives on its inventory system to make sure that it cannot incur losses from receiving understocked orders from the suppliers.
Also the business can suffer losses from administrative errors made by the cashier's by giving wrong change and balances to the customers.
The business should also maintain an effective inventory system that can make sure everything that is required by the customers are well stocked to avoid the losses through selling of stockouts.

To avoid losses in business there is the need for foresighting. Most of the losses incurred are incurred because the business owner lacks foresight to see the end result of the actions which they take and avoid them so as to avoid their imminent repercussions and consequences on the business and it's financial and all round stability.
Once the business owner has the ability to see into the future and determine the side effects of actions which are to be taken or already taken, then the business will relieve itself of a considerable amount and level of loss.

Another thing that can also be useful when we talk of the things that can avoid business losses is knowledge. With knowledge, ignorance which leads to mistakes is eliminated. You won't decide to fall into a ditch which you know lies in front of you. So also the knowledge of business and it's kinetics will help you avoid getting into losses.

A business owner has to keep a lot of things in check to prevent the business from suffering a loss. Loss could result from theft, it could be theft from employees like you mentioned or even theft from customers. Some customers go steal from a business. A CCTV camera should be installed and monitored to prevent theft from both customers and employees.
Another thing that cagn make a business suffer loss is inadequate planning. Some business are set up without any proper business plan and as a result, the business often suffers loss. There's a saying that goes like this "he who doesn't plan, plans to fail". One should ensure he or she has a proper business plan before starting a business so that the business won't suffer loss
A business can also suffer a loss as a result of inadequate funds. A business needs money to run smoothly. Money is needed to pay staffs. In a situation where staffs can no longer be paid as a result of inadequate funds, then the workers would leave and the business would suffer loss.

The first step in getting a raise is to do your research and know what you are worth. There are many websites and resources available to help you determine what an appropriate salary range is for your position and experience. Once you have a good idea of what you should be making, you can begin to put together a plan to ask for a raise.

The next step is to start collecting data to back up your request. This could include things like performance reviews, positive feedback from customers or clients, and any other documentation that demonstrates your value to the company. Once you have a strong case built up, you can approach your boss or human resources department to request a meeting to discuss a raise.

When asking for a raise, it is important to be polite and professional. Be prepared to explain why you feel you deserve a raise, and have your supporting data ready to back up your request. If your boss or HR representative is not receptive to your request, politely thank them for their time and continue to work hard in your role. In some cases, it may be necessary to look for a new job in order to earn the salary you deserve.
