Experience vs Academic Qualifications: Which would you employ?

Experience is the fact or state of having been affected by or gained knowledge through direct observation or participation in a particular career/ profession. Academic qualification is a training received from a formal school about a particular career/ profession.

Supposing you are an employer that has a vacant position that is meant to be filled. And two candidates apply for the job. One has vast experience with no acadmi. qualification in the field. The other has an academic qualification in the field but no experience. Which one of the two candidates do you think would be appropriate for the role?

I would pick the experienced person ahead of the academically qualified person. With the experienced person, there would be no need for training and that would save some cost for the organization. The experienced person. can slot in almost immediately to the new role. I prefer experienced over an academic certificate.
