While a majority of companies are paying their dividend directly to the investors bank account, some of the companies are paying their dividend in the form of a cheque or draft. The cheque is then mailed to the mailing address and the investor has to deposit the cheque in their bank account. In your country, do most companies send their dividend to their share holders in the form of a cheque or is the payment directly credited to the bank account?

Although there are many ways to distribute dividends to shareholders, the most common is in the form of cash being transferred to the shareholders' account. and I have never heard of any shareholder receiving dividends in the form of a check/draft. There is also the distribution of dividends received in the form of shares or other forms, all decisions on giving dividends will be determined at the general meeting of shareholders.

It depends on the country where you live in and also the frequency of identity theft, financial fraud. In some countries, professionals, investors from poorer communities are subjected to identity theft, with powerful greedy top government officials falsely claiming that their relatives and friends own the investment of the professional. So to prevent fraud, some companies are sending the payment by draft/cheque to the shareholders , investors .
