Production in effect could be seen as transformation of unfinished product to finish goods that are sold in the market.
Production in any given enterprise can come in any of the following forms which include:
Job production:
It is the manufacture of a single unit by an operation or group of operators. Here, customer's order or specification are brought or tidied up within a limited time frame. This also called intermittent production because the project may come ones in a while to be completed within hours or days and when it comes the customer may require the order be completed and delivered to him in a manner different from conventional method. Hence, no building of stock is needed because the customer may not come again for the same product of the same nature.
This production method requires multipurpose plant and should embrace flexibility in its approach if business is to grow.
Batch production:
It is a type of production that requires that small or large batches or bits be produced by a series of operations and until one part is completed,the other cannot continue. Batch production can be applied when customer order are to be produced or when inventory is to be build with respect to expected orders by users or customers.
Mass production :
In this particular type it involves a situation where the production of an article passes through series of operations on a continuous basis in a sequence until the article is complete.
