Well before we look into the forms industries let first of all see what it means:

An industry refers to a place or process of converting raw materials into new product through mechanically or chemical processes. It could also be seen as the transformation of materials from their original state to another. This could be done at home or in the factory. And the industry can be group in different forms which include :


Classification of industry by their function in the production chain,: under this we have the primary industry, the secondary industry and lastly the tertiary industry :



First is the primary industry though we may have different meaning or ways to describe it but we should near I mind that any industry which main function is to extract raw materials and other useful materials from their natural source is a primary industry also known as extractive industries.


Secondary industry :

These industry actually convert raw materials and process them into finish product for director indirect consumption.


Tertiary industry :

These are concerned with the rendering of direct and indirect services such service include banking, marketing, teaching etc.
