For some people, they has started work in their present organisation as contract staff. The disadvantages of being a contract staff is that your payslip is not up to par with permanent staff and there is no job security because a contract staff can be dismissed anytime. So what steps can a contract staff take to stand a chance of being converted to a permanent staff?

1) Be sure that you become a vital part of the organisation so much that they can't do without you. Offer value beyond your job description.

2) Improve your qualifications. Subtly acquire higher qualifications that could put you in pole position in case a permanent staff role opens up.

3) Network and build strong relationships accross different levels and departments of the organisation.

4) Subtly express your interest to the HR department. Let them know without excessive suggestiveness that you wish to be a permanent staff.

5) Volunteer for projects that showcase your skills and competence. Demonstrate versatility by engaging with other teams.
