Let's first establish what artificial intelligence (AI) is before moving on to its benefits or cons. From a high perspective, AI gives a computer program the capacity to reason and learn independently. It is the artificial simulation of human intellect in robots that do tasks for which we would typically turn to humans. A software that has the capacity for learning and thought is said to have artificial intelligence. Anything that involves a program carrying out a task that we would typically believe a human would carry out qualifies as artificial intelligence. However business organisations involved the use of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing and producing of it goods and services, there could be a whole lot of advantage in adopting artificial intelligence based technology in carrying out business activities, but there are also disadvantages too, some of these disadvantages include:
* Laziness: one of the obvious products of artificial intelligence in businesses is the use of robots and robot-like appliances and gadgets in carrying out activities and practices in the business environments some of which include handling raw materials, storing finished goods packaging finished goods, and delivering finished goods. Most of these activities are carried out by robots however this decreases the chances for human beings to work as they should.
* High cost: it is obviously true that the adoption and maintenance of AI-based technology in workplaces is definitely costly and expensive. Some manufacturing and producing industries and organisations who have possibly purchased or adopted the use of AI based technology are also finding it hard to maintain this technology.
* Unemployment: as we earlier explained that AI based technology is the artificial simulation of human intellect in robots that do tasks for which we would typically turn to humans. However these boils down to the increment of unemployment for humans, as industries are more likely to use robots and robot-like gadgets to carry out human activities in other to attain a higher rate of efficiency and accuracy.
