The Pros and Cons of Free Web Hosting Services

Cost effectiveness and reduced initial expenses are the reasons why people opt for free web hosting services rather than paid hosting providers especially if they are individuals or small businesses that do not want to invest in creating their online presence. Savings on costs, simple installation with easy-to-use tools, no long-term obligations, basic features included and opportunities to learn about web development and online marketing are some of the benefits that they provide. However, they also have disadvantages such as limited storage and bandwidth, intrusive ads appearing on websites, poor performance due to overselling of servers and unavailability of technical support. Free hosting plans may restrict users from creating more pages or email accounts or even databases. In addition, there might be slow loading times, peak-time downtimes and performance issues in free server-based websites. Generally though, while it is a practical option for some people this still has its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Free web hosting packages lack customization options and cannot compete with their counterparts from paid companies in advanced features area. There is also an associated security risk since most of these services have weak protection against malware attacks among other forms of hacking
