MT4 and MT5 are trading platforms that are widely used by forex brokers in the financial markets and are chosen by many traders because they are user-friendly and have many important features for traders' needs.

However, sometimes you may encounter problems when you cannot log in to your trading account on MT4 or MT5, and a message appears in the bottom right corner of the connection status "old version". If you experience this condition, it means that the MT4 or MT5 platform you are currently using is no longer supported by your broker.

So the only way to be able to use your MT4 or MT5 again is to update to the version that is the minimum requirement according to broker policy. Only if you have successfully updated to a higher version can you restart the MT4 or MT5 platform and log in again.

Recently FXOpen also announced the minimum requirements for MT4 and MT5 versions on their official website. Starting from December 1, 2023, the following will be the minimum required versions for the trading platforms:
  • MetaTrader 4 build 1380, released on March 24
  • MetaTrader 5 build 3802, released on June 9

After December 1st, users with older builds cannot log in unless upgraded to the higher version. To check which version you are currently using, please open the MetaTrader platform, navigate to ‘Help’ > ‘About’ and you will see the version number displayed on screen.
