A rural settlement is what we at times refer to as villages and remote places. This topic comes in because there are many businesses that if set up in a village, it won't thrive.

Here are a few businesses that have from experience, worked in villages and rural settlements:

1. Charging of phones and other digital gadgets: This works well in a village because there are many Nigerian villages where people possess phones but have no source of electricity. Therefore, they need a place to charge their phones and gadgets regularly.

2. Retailing of provisions: This is very effective because people in villages may be in need of some provisions and by retailing such you will gain patronage and make good money from it. In such places, you hardly get competitors even though there might be some at a point in other places.

A village is being viewed as a unproductive area due to activities it may lack or some form of development which it lack this does not mean that no business could be form or established in the village or rural area though it would be hard to achieve this goals of theirs, because of limited social amenities like good road, electricity etc this amenities are lacking and with out them an industry won't last for long because they are very important for the growth of a business, it need electricity to power up it machines and other important appliances and it also migration to urban territory making the rural area population low, most time product that want to advertised may need be to hard for an elderly women in the village to understand so this could bring down credibility.
