When I first learnt of the process of branding a business, it was so exciting that I wondered why more businesses were not doing it. It seemed like such a simple and unique way of promoting and advertising a business.

It actually is so, as I found out later, but it is not so simple. When done right, it's an effective tactic of distinguishing one business from another. There are some aspects of branding that are surely easier to develop, like the principles, mission and vision of the business.
Having a unique avatar, a unique way of speaking or writing can also make a business stand out.

Others like logo development, website and social media marketing strategies, take more time to develop, test and twaek the results to identify the best performers.
A lot of business owners tend to outsource this aspect of their business to experts who can do it better and in a shorter period of time.

For a business whether it is a small business or a large business, building a brand is very important. When a business manages to build its brand, sales will pick up and more revenue will come. If you want to buy a soda, it is very likely you order a coke or pepsi, if you want an energy drink, you will either buy red bull or sting, if you want to buy sports wear, you either buy from addidas, nike, or puma. That's because these companies have built brands and the names are properly recorded in your minds. While big companies hire actors, musicians, athletes to promote the brand, this option is not viable for small businesses. Small businesses, can however, leverage the power of social media to build their barnds. They can use SEO to rank on searches and build their brands. They can also use low cost marketing methods.
