Professional development (PD) is the term used to describe a wide variety of activities and programs that help employees learn and grow in their careers. It can encompass everything from job-related training and development to continuing education, professional networking, and personal growth opportunities.

The main goal of PD is to help employees stay current and competitive in their field, and to equip them with the skills they need to be successful both now and in the future. Many organizations offer some form of PD, but the type and scope of programs can vary greatly.

Some common types of professional development activities include:

Job-related training and development: This includes seminars, workshops, courses, and other programs that help employees learn new skills or improve their existing ones.

Continuing education: This includes classes and degree programs related to an employee's field or occupation.
