The commission rate that is preferred for affiliate marketing would depend on different kinds of factors and this includes the product or services that is being promoted, the target audience and the profit margins that is involved in the program. It is very crucial to try to find the balance that will incentivize affiliate and it will also ensure profitability for the participating partners. Some affiliate will offer higher commission rate and that could be up to 20% or more. It is important not to make more efforts in affiliate program with business that has lower profit margins too .

The more the commission, the more it may be very difficult to get that products marketed or promoted. That's why it is always better to go for the products that have commission that is of average.

On the other hand, people go for products that have power commission with the aim that they will easily promote such products. But to solve the issue, it will be better if we select to promote a product that we know we are familiar with or have some kind of interest in, this will facilitate the promotion of such products.

I like to aim for commission rates between 5% to 20%. Anything lower than that feels like peanuts, and anything higher, well, let's just say it's a sweet deal! But hey, always gotta weigh the commission against the conversion rate and the product's popularity.
