Marketing can be a lot of things, but it's also pretty much always going to be about the same thing: being better than the competition.
Here are some examples of great marketing and how they can help you become more successful at your job:
1. Your brand's visual identity. the way that your company looks and feels is important to making sure people remember what your company is all about. If you don't have something that resonates with customers, then they won't buy from you. And if they don't buy from you, then you don't get paid!
2. You want to make sure that every time someone sees something about your brand or hears about it somewhere, it leaves an impression on them that makes them want to know more about it and want to do business with you. That means identifying who your ideal customer is (and targeting them specifically), crafting messages that speak directly to those customers' needs and interests, and then promoting those messages through social media, email campaigns, print ads, billboards…
3. A great example of this is Starbucks's "Iced Coffee" campaign. Before this campaign, people thought that iced coffee was just a way to make something hot taste cold. Starbucks changed everything by showing people pictures of iced coffee in their natural state: not cold. They also showed people how good it could taste when it wasn't iced and they gave us tips on how to make it at home! This made iced coffee seem like something worth trying.
