You may not be able to afford a new car, but you can always find a used one.
You might not be able to afford your dream home, but you can always rent one.
You may not be able to afford to take an exotic vacation, but you can always visit the local theme park.
You might not be able to afford to put your children through college, but they're going anyway.
You might not be able to afford a fancy dinner out with friends on Monday, but they're still coming over for pizza on Tuesday night.
The key is that when you have less in your bank account than you think you should have, it's ok to say no. It's acceptable to tell people that this time it's just not possible or convenient for them and then move on with your life.
