Should pricing be based on a customer's financial status?

In business, all customers are not the same. And prices are also not the same for all customers. I learned that some businesses have two prices. The general price for average customers is always the general market price. And the special price for financially capable customers.

It sounds absurd but that is what is happening in many businesses. The sellers use certain parameters to decode the financial status of the customer and give him prices based on inference from that quick analysis. Most times, financially capable customers pay without any form of argument.

Is it ethical or unethical for businesses to sell to some customers at higher prices than what they are selling to everyone?
