When selling online, do you profit more by selling niche products or by selling general products? Niche products means you create a product to cater to a niche market. General product means products that you create for the mass market. Selling niche products simplifies promotion, as a single ad campaign can generate sales. However, the audience is narrower. Selling general products requires individual campaigns for each product, but it can lead to more significant sales and a broader audience. While creating general products takes more time, however, niche products are comparatively easier as you can apply the same design across multiple items. Choose your approach based on your goals and resources.

You would stand a better chance of making good profits if your products are niche. With it, you would be able to target a particular market and the market would easily know you as a specialist and an authority in that niche. That boosts trust in your business and increased patronage.

Selling general goods online on the other hand won't profit you much and you would be easily forgotten even when need for products that you also sell arises. When you are selling on a particular niche, they won't easily forget you because there are not many people that are on that niche and you would easily stand out online. Just try and build your online presence.

On selling products, niches and generics both have pros and cons. Selling niche products allows you to target them more precisely. These may also generate bigger sales due to their uniqueness and popularity. Moreover, it may not only narrow down the number of potential customers but also require much effort in order to reach a potentially wider audience. Selling general products on the other hand provides a larger market that is easier to sell but this can be accompanied by increased competition leading to low profit margins . Finally, the choice between niche or general product lies with seller’s specific targets and available resources.
