I have been seeing the bulletin board of the fast food chains here with posters of the Employee of the Month. That is one way of praising the worker for a job well done especially that a poster is a public announcement so the praised worker would be elated because it would be a source of pride. This award system is just like the honor roll that is made by the teacher in school. We are proud to receive high grades much more if our name is included in the honor roll.
In big companies the annual award has a plaque of appreciation plus a monetary bonus that sometimes is equivalent to 1 month salary. Those incentives truly give motivation to the workers to do better as much as they can. The award can be a source of inspiration and also can give a feeling of belonging to the employee. I have not received such an award in my job but I am happy that some of my co-employees have the plaque and the monetary bonus.
