People Being Forced into Poverty by a Minimum Wage

I don't think that the minimum wage is a good idea. There are some people who are willing to work for less than a certain amount of money, and some people who are not. A person who is willing to work for less than $2/hr can be replaced by a machine, without decreasing the standard of living in any way. The person who is not willing to work for less than $2/hr will have to find another job or get food, shelter and clothing on his or her own. These people are most likely old or young or disabled, so they probably won't be able to find any other job.

A minimum wage increases unemployment among those who would rather work at an hourly wage of zero than do something else. This increases poverty among the poorest citizens of our society and lowers the standard of living for everyone else. The worst case is in some countries their minimum wage can't even help them get their basic needs and they work hard for it, just to survive and not get rich.
