Doing things like registering domain names, renewing domain names, setting up DNS records and looking after the name servers for your domains, as well as setting up web and email hosting services is what managing domain names and DNS settings imply. Typically this means having access to a control panel or dashboard provided by your domain registrar or hosting provider through which you can modify your domain settings. These include configuring A, CNAME, MX and TXT dns entries as well as establishing for example url forwarding or domain redirection, taking care of whois lookups privacy settings on a particular domain along with updating name servers. You should know what DNS is about and how these settings affect your site’s operation in terms of emails received or sent from that address on the internet. Don’t hesitate to ask me any specific question about managing your own DNS settings and registration of new domain names.
