Etsy has over 20 million shoppers each month, so creating a store there is guaranteed success. If you make pottery, hand-made clothing, digital downloads or even if you crochet, there is a place for you to sell your goods.
- How to set up an Etsy store: -
Step 1: Register for a free account on Etsy.com. You will need to fill in your personal details as well as some information about your business/products.
  • Step 2: Decide what type of shop you want to run. You have the option of a basic shop, or even a B2B (business-to-business) shop. For the first month or so, it's best to set up a basic digital store, then upgrade it to a B2B store after your sales are steady.
  • Step 3: Add your products
It's easy to add products with Etsy, however if you want to sell physical products such as clothing and shoes, it is easier just to use Listie.com instead for that product type.
- Step 4: Decide how much you are willing to spend on advertising . You will be able to choose from free options or paid options that may give you better results.

You can sell physical items and digital items through etsy. While physical items need to be created or purchased in order to sell and should be shipped to the buyers once there is an order, a digital product can be continuously sold. Therefore, selling digital products seem to be better. However, in order to create a saleable digital product you need a lot of skills in graphic designing and other technical skills. For instance, you can sell print designs, but in order to create these products, you need to be a digital artist. Interestingly, you can also sell physical items without actually creating them yourself and without having to fulfill the order. This method of selling is called print-on-demand. In order to sell print-on-demand product, you will have to create products on a print provider store and then integrate your print provider account with Etsy account and list your product.

Etsy is a good way to go. But my daughter was a buyer, not a seller. It was clear from how the purchase transaction was handled that she was dealing with an inexperienced seller. After some wrangling about returning the product, she finally got things straightened out. I felt kind of sorry for the seller. It seemed like they were sort of clueless about business,

So all I can say is if you're going to sell on Etsy, make sure you know what you're doing and you know how to handle refunds ad returns. You have to plan for the fact that some of your customers might not be satisfied.
