Recent surveys reveal that most Russian citizens lack enthusiasm for the central bank's digital ruble (CBDC). These results follow the introduction of the digital ruble's logo and commission fees by the Bank of Russia.

Until the end of 2024, using the digital ruble for payments will be free, with charges starting in 2025. A survey by BankInform showed that 32% of respondents viewed the CBDC as potentially fraudulent, but many of them lacked information about it.

The same survey found that 33% were interested in CBDC news but not in using it, while 13% considered it useful and intended to use it.

Another survey by Vedomosti indicated that only 15% were aware of the CBDC's introduction in 2025. Roughly 55% knew of the initiative but not the details, and 30% encountered information about the digital ruble for the first time.

Moreover, 51% of respondents struggled to explain the CBDC's necessity. The Bank of Russia acknowledges that mass adoption may not happen before 2027 and aims to inform and educate citizens about the digital ruble.
