Is outsourcing an Ethical Practice?

This question cannot be answered with a straightforward response. When local workers are unable to meet a demand, outsourcing might be viewed as an ethical practice because it fulfills a need that was previously unmet. For instance, if a firm has to have a website made but there are no web designers in the local area, it would be morally acceptable for the company to outsource the project to a business located in another country.

However, when it is done with the intention of taking advantage of low-cost labor, outsourcing can be viewed as an unethical business activity. For instance, if a corporation were to outsource production to a plant located in a nation in which workers are paid relatively cheap wages, then the company would be able to save a significant amount of money on the costs of production.
