Is it wise to take up a job you left 3 years ago?

This depends on your situation. If you left your job because of a major life change, like getting married or having a child, and if you've been out of the workforce for less than three years, then it may not be a good idea to return to that particular job. You'll likely have lost some of your professional skills and knowledge, and you could find yourself struggling to keep up with the pace of work and keep up with new technologies.

But if you left the workforce for a reason that was more temporary, for example, if you were taking care of an elderly parent or due to illiness, and if you expect that your skills are still up-to-date, then returning to work may be a good idea. In this case, it's important to remember that it can take as much as six months for people who have been out of the workforce for some time to get back into the groove of things. Consider starting off by volunteering or working part-time until you're fully acclimated again.

Another reason is that if you were laid off or fired from the job, there may have been circumstances beyond your control that led to that outcome. Taking up the job again may give you the chance to prove yourself and show why they should have kept you on in the first place. On the contrary, you might have problem keeping up your reputation there if you had your name soiled at first.
