The Bank of Iran has revealed plans to set up its own digital currency, also known as CBDC and they have dubbed it the “crypto-rial”. The bank sent a notice to local banks and credit agencies about a number of impending regulations connected to the CBDC.
Apparently certain frameworks are being considered. Namely, how how the digital coin will be minted and distributed and what the supply volume cap will be. The Central Bank has apparently decided on a certain distributed ledger system that will issue the currency – a system that will consist of locally regulated financial institutions.
