Investing on raw land

Max is my former boss in the bank who bought a big parcel of land 30 years ago. He planted gmelina trees for purposes of having lumber to sell after 10 or 20 years. The land was left to nature because it is a long term investment.

After 20 years the land showed a good potential so Max moved to stay there when he suffered a stroke. Fortunately he recovered with the help of the activities in his farm. Aside from the health benefits Max now is earning good money from the grass, harvested fruit and vegetables not to mention that his lumber also gave him a fortune. Well, 30 years is a long time but for Max it was worth the wait for his investment.

This is a particular reason why a lot of economist have been advocating that people should use their lives to plant economical trees. A lot of people do not buy this idea because it usually take a lot of time before this particular plan materializes and in that time there are a lot of opportunities that you might have missed.
