Running ads is one of the most common ways to make money from a website, however, not many people are able to make money by running ads. I have been making money from ads on my site for a couple of years and based on my experience, I can say to earn more from ads on your website you need to pick a topic that a of people are interested in and a topic where a lot of advertisers are spending a lot of money. Some topics get a lot of searches but do not get a lot of money from advertisers, and some topics get a lot of money from advertisers but do not get a lot of searches. You will have to create a balance.
