If you have never bought a domain and are thinking about buying a domain, here are a few tips that might help you.

The first dilemma is related to domain extension. What domain extension should you actually buy? The website does not rank for the top-level domain (domain extension), it ranks for the second-level domain (your main domain name). It does not matter whether you use dot com or dot xyz, what matters is the word you are using before the extension.

The domain you are registering should reflect your niche. If you plan to build a website on a keto diet, make sure the domain has “Keto diet” in the name.

Domains are not equally created some domains cost more than then others. Sometimes you get a domain for a bargain price but you need to check how much would be the renewal price.

Last but not the least, you can register a domain for one year term but make sure to renew it before it expires.

When you are buying a domain, make a decision from your mind not from your heart. When you make a decision from heart you will be registering a domain that you like and the domain might not have any commercial value. For example, you might be tempted to register a domain on your name, however, you must be aware that your name does not have any commercial value and people are not searching for your name on the internet. Unless, you are building a portfolio website to showcase your work, never register a domain with your name. You need to take decision from your mind, you will have to see the commercial value. If you decide to create a personal blog, and if your blog is related to finance, your domain should reflect the niche, for example you need to use the words like money, finance, investment, business on the domain name.
