Common Business Scammers

It's a sad fact that most businesses are scammed, and the number of scams is growing. The most common scams involve:

Sales people who pretend to be from a company when they're really not.

People who scream at you about needing money for services that don't exist.

People who ask for money up front for jobs or products that haven't been built yet.

Telemarketers who call you pretending to be someone else, such as your bank or your credit card company.

Scammers are also getting better at identifying potential victims by researching personal information, such as age and income level, then creating profiles on social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn that appear to be real people. They then use those profiles to contact victims directly with offers that seem too good to be true — often fake sites selling everything from gold coins to cars, trips around the world or even life-changing financial opportunities.
