The Cardano (ADA) blockchain will soon undergo its second hardfork (network upgrade) named "Vasil"; the hardfork is scheduled for June 29, 2022.

The first hardfork named "Alonzo" was launched on September 13, 2021, and Cardano is focusing on overall network stability and connectivity using the new mechanism. In a June 1 tweet, ADA co-developer Sooraj compared Vasil to Ethereum, trying to show Vasil as the superior of the two.

The goal of Vasil is to improve Cardano and its smart contract Plutus. This hardfork could increase Cardano's performance and allow it to support a wider range of Decentralised Finance, Decentralised Exchange, and smart contract applications.

Although the value of ADA has plummeted as a result of the crypto industry's bear market, it remains among the top ten cryptocurrencies in terms of market performance, and one of the popular among whales. Vasil is thought to lower transaction costs by making it "lightweight", which will likely boost ADA's influence.
