For many people forums are source of income, they post on forums that offer paid posting and make some cash. If you are getting paid on a forum means the forum itself is also making money. So, does that mean you could start your own forum and make money? How easy is it to run a forum and make money form a forum? Well, technically, yes. You could create your own forum and potentially earn money from it by running ads just like you can do it on blogs. But here's the reality check: it's pretty tough to make money on forum. That’s because a forum needs a lot of active users posting a lot of posts daily, which is very hard.

Making money with a forum is a source of a passive income, a lot of people get started in this field but only very few succeed because it's competitive and you need to bring something new in order to keep people hooked to your product, there are a lot ways to monetize from running ads, Google ads and paid membership.

I think what's missing in must forums is they do not evolve to match the modern day trends, for example if you look at reddit it's pretty much a forum that grew very large and they had to align it to modern trends and they succeeded.
