There are various ways to generate income, for instance, you can work for a company as an employee, become a freelancer, or become self employed through several side hustles. These things will certainly help you make a living, however, these income sources won't help you build wealth. Any kind of employment will not help you build wealth. To build wealth, you need to invest or start your own business. Investing can be simple as you do not have to work, but it requires a lot of money or invest regularly for many years. Starting a business can help you earn a lot more money in a shorter period provided you become successful.

When you say that one can't build wealth through employment, it turns out to be a controversial premises. There are people that would argue that's they became rich because they worked for say, an oil company. For a job that pays 7 figures, I don't understand why such a person won't be rich, at least for the present. Whether the wealth can be sustained is a different topic entirely, but I feel that some jobs would really afford you a very wealthy lifestyle. Generally, an average person has a bigger chance to become wealthy through business and investments.
