Marketing is an old and broad field, with roots dating back to the barter days, there is a lot to learn, marketing entails everything ranging from sales, advertising, closing and everything in between, in this article we will be looking at some books you should read as a marketing beginner to get you up and running and also understand how the whole thing works, personally, I prefer classics because they have stand the test of time, not best sellers which are riding the hype wave let's roll:

1) "Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind" - This book covers the importance of positioning in the marketplace, and how to create a unique and memorable brand image.

2) "Marketing Management" - Written by Philip Kotler, this book provides a comprehensive overview of marketing management, including the 4Ps of marketing (product, price, place, and promotion) and customer-focused strategies.

3) "The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing" - In this book, authors Al Ries and Jack Trout examine 22 universal laws of marketing, exploring why some products and brands succeed while others fail.

4) "Confessions of an Advertising Man" - Written by advertising legend David Ogilvy, this book provides insights and advice on how to create effective advertising campaigns and develop a successful career in advertising.
