Exhibiting participation can help you meet customers who are pro-actively seeking deals, so you can gather more leads. Unlike, cold calling that annoys anyone who may not be in the right place or right mind set to talk to you about your product or service.

For a new consumer product that is promising to be a hit in the market is usually seen in exhibits and in trade fairs. I go to trade fairs sometimes where I see new machines, gadgets for cooking and even cooked food that can be said with a different recipe. It is in the trade fair where I first saw the plastic slippers that looked like a novelty. I was amused because in those times the slippers were either rubber or leather. Now you can see that plastic slippers are the most common in the market because they are cheap. Perhaps joining a trade fair is an expensive activity but it is worth it to advertise the new product. In the long run the exposure in the exhibit or trade fair will bear fruit when the orders would start to come in.
