It is commendable and congratulated that many employees , staff , and workers working in various company in different angles of the world , strive to do their best to handle assigned business goals and objectives given to them by their superiors possibly by their employer , manager , or boss so as to be able to reach and accomplish expected business goals and objectives . Although employees and workers try to do their best to please their superiors some of them do not try at all , sometimes it is as a result of one problem or the other and sometimes they purposely do not want to try at all .

Whatever the situation may be , the business manager , employer , or owner has the duty to counsel and advice every employee that works for him or her . Before counseling an employee or worker you must first of all make known to him some of the areas that he or she have been doing well , before going for the part that he or she is absolutely not doing well . This is advised , so as not to completely embarrassed the employee and indirectly telling him that he is completely useless . Telling the employee firstly , the part that he or she is currently and accurately doing will make the employee to know that you take an interest in him , and also you have been aware of some of the good things he has been doing for the business . But still , he or she need to improve on some certain areas as well depending on what it is .

Advising and counselling employees is one of the most important duties that a manager has. It is through this that the manager is able to guide employees into doing the right. They must first start with defining for them their roles and responsibilities. Then also need to ensure that the employees are trained enough for what they are doing.

Counselling an employee when they make a mistake should be done with care and not by making them feel totally useless and incompetent. So you should choose your words wisely and include some appreciation to things that they have been doing well.

Another thing when correcting employees is that you should never shout at them in public. They will feel embarrassed rather than corrected. It is best to call them side and tell them what ever wrong they have done and give them a chance to make changes. That way, they don't fear and hate you for embarrassing them.

Sometimes, it is best to bring in a professional counselor to help counsel the employees. Especially if the work is stressful or causes some trauma. The professional counselor will know how to handle the mental health of employees. That way, they become productive and that is great for the company.

This has always been my submission a lot of times when it comes to sacking a staff for incompetence. I always think that it is better to train, retrain, counsel or advice a worker thsn outright sack or firing for some minor misconduct. The truth is that no man is perfect so even at work employers shouldn't always expect a 100% perfection from the heir workers. This is not to say that workers shouldn't strive to give their job the needed quality it's need but employers should also be more considerate.

it there's a worker that needs training then such should be trained

one that needs job advice to do better should be refered to an expert that can give the best advice and how to achieve it, same with a person that needs to be counselled to do better.

I even think there should be a quota of money that should be reserved for conferences, seminars and other official engagements that will help the workers to function efficiently.

So I give kudos already to employers that had figured this out before now and we're doing this to help the staff rather than just employing the weapon of humiliation, yelling or just sacking their workers.

It is challenging enough to manage a workplace or a business as a leader. Being human, your staff will sometimes do the wrong things and you have to make corrections, but like any other aspect of dealing with people, you have to employ tact and wisdom to get a favourable outcome.

When you want to correct someone in a workplace, it's very important you don't do it in public or in such a way that others know what is going on, especially when the person has been trying at work. Doing so will only cause embarrassment, which can make the employee disgruntled and even less willing to do the right thing.

It's also helpful to commend first, before condemning. Once the employee feels that you find them valuable, but there are errors they can fix to be better, they would actively look for ways to change what's wrong.
