It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new business and its growth. But when times get tough, you may find yourself struggling to meet the expectations of your customers.

Here are some ways to manage customer expectations when times get tough:

Be honest. Tell customers if there will be a delay or if they'll have to wait longer than usual for their product. If you're unable to deliver on time, let them know what they can expect and when they can expect it by.

Keep your customers informed. Send out updates regularly so they know what's going on with their order, delivery date and status of their order. If you need more time to complete an order, let them know why and how many days or weeks it may take.

Solve problems as soon as possible. If there's a problem with an order, solve it quickly for the customer before it becomes an issue that affects future orders or relationships with other customers who also ordered from you at the same time as this one did (if possible).
