If you follow a healthy lifestyle, it can help prevent high blood pressure. That means:

1. Eating a healthy diet:

To help control your blood pressure, you should reduce the amount of sodium (salt) you add in your food, and increase the amount of potassium in your diet.

It is also essential to eat whole grains, vegetables, fresh fruits, as well as lot of foods, which are low in fat. The DASH diet is an example of a good eating plan. It can help you lower your blood pressure.

2. Do regular exercise:

Exercise can help you retain a healthy weight, and lower the blood pressure. Therefore, you should try to get at least two and a half hours of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week, or high-intensity aerobic exercise for one hour and fifteen minutes per week.

Aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking in the open, or any good physical activity in which your heart beats faster, and you breathe in more oxygen than usual is also good.

Being obese or overweight increases your risk of high blood pressure. When you maintain a healthy weight, it can help you control high blood pressure, and also reduce the risk of other health problems.
