Just as we are taught that first impression is important when it comes to dating and relationship matters , but not a lot of people know that first impression is also important when it comes to seeking for a job . In most part of Africa like Nigeria job opportunities are in low scale and the possibility for a Nigerian university graduate to find a job is actually low , and if all of a sudden or unfortunately a person find a company or business organisation in need of an individual to take over a particular post either as a sales manager or whatever role . A person must give in his or her possible best to make sure that he gets the job .

When going for a job interview you are first impression really matters and it silently tells the job interviewer or employer that you are a serious person . A person going to a job interview must look neat and well-groomed , he must not have a bushy hair and an uncomb Beards . He must look well responsible from top to bottom , and for the females they must dress professionally not revealing any seductive part of their body . Applying all this will show that they are serious to get the job .

First impression is important as a job seeker. Yes, we have to pay attention to the way we dress but that's not all there is in it. Seeking a job still continues in the interview room until you are declared employed. Manner also matters. Most people ignorantly sit down without being asked to, or they talk more than the questions that are being asked them, which makes the interview panel disqualifying the candidate. Such little things could make you lose the job that would have been yours
We are to create good first impression and manners

First impression is really important.
Dressing, appropriate posture, decent look, professional attitude, etc all these things really matter on a job interview.
The employer usually has a long list of candidates for a job position. You have to give your best in order to get hired.
One must think that how he will conduct interview if he/she is an employer.
Every company wants best of best for their company. If a person is not professional during the time of interview it gives negative impression to the employer and employer thinks that is he/she is not even professional on his/her first day, how can we expect him/her to be beneficial for us in the future.
Every possible opportunity / interview can be life changing for a person. So these things must be dealt seriously. It is of absolute necessity.

Now adays people are also hiring online, still they conduct video interviews on skype. Every big brand/ company is serious about such things. One has to put real efforts in order to impress the employer.

I agree with you wholesomely that as a job seeker, first impression matters a lot. There are some potential employees which after getting the job, the Manager has this vote of confidence and might not have to watch or monitor closely the activities of the worker but in some cases, there is no vote of ultimate confidence and the worker's step is being monitored and watched keenly. In most cases, this was as a result of the first impression during the point of interview. As a job seeker, before applying for a job vacancy, you should not just be in a rush due to the renumeration or incentives packages but you should carefully read through the job description and checkmate if your goals, vision or passion aligns with their stated goals. Due to the economic inflation, job seekers randomly apply for jobs even without reading or knowing what the job entails and this makes them fumble in the recruitment and selection process. The first impression matters a lot, your composure, the level of your experience, your readiness to learn, your charisma and your sense of confidence and productivity can put you at a higher advantage more than someone that has a much higher qualification or experience.

First impression matters a lot as a potential employee. The way you comport yourself right from the recruitment process to the selection process would determine how your potential employer sees your strengths or weakness. We all have our weaknesses but when going for an interview or seeking a job, we should not always let our weakness be used as an excuse by the recruiter not to see us as the best fit for the job. You should always tell your weakness in a positive light. For example, if you are asked during an interview, "what is your weakness?" The best response is to make your weakness to look like part of your strength by saying, "my weakness is that I work excessively to complete my targets even during holidays. With this, your potential employer would know that you are a workaholic and you know that employers are keen concerning such people.

As a job seeker, you should make sure your curriculum vitae is updated and free from lies. There is no point telling lies about a skill which you do not possess. You can always tell the recruiter that you are a fast learner who is versatile and if given the job, you would perform above their expectations.

In most cases, before you get to the stage of having an interview with the company, what they get first is your CV or resume. In such a case, your CV/resume is your first impression. What you write down would determine if you are good enough or qualified for the position. Your CV tells alot about you even before they see you. After impressing them with your cv, you have to put in your very best to impress them in an interview.
