What does the NDIS require to fund the rental of assistive tech?

The NDIS might include funding in the participant's plan for renting assistive technology if:
  • The participant is unable to use their usual assistive technology for any reason.
  • The participant can't use their current assistive technology anymore and is waiting for new items to arrive.
  • The participant left the hospital with assistive technology and is waiting for an assessment of their long-term needs.
  • Expensive new assistive technology is required, but the participant must try out some options during the assessment.
  • Renting the assistive technology is preferable if participant's needs may change.
