In every kind of business, there is always a boss. The word "boss" refers to an individual who usually manages the employees, gives orders to workers, and directs the business operation in the business. A boss is usually seen as a leader of a company or business management. The bosses at upper level are also responsible for the management of supervisors, as many bosses hold a much higher position than many supervisors. In short, they supervise the activities of supervisors in many businesses. A good amount of bosses even own the business. So there are many varieties of bosses.

A boss is a person who must possess certain great qualities if he wants to be viewed as a great boss. First of all, a good boss is a great person. It is not possible for someone to be a great boss and be a horrible person at the same time. A good boss respects his employees and never treat them as slaves. A great boss has a really great understanding with his employees and he possess the qualities of leading his team to success. Such kind of boss is a person with whom his employees are pleased and enjoy working with just like a family. So, what are the great qualities of a great boss?

One quality I believe a great boss should have is the ability to understand those working under them. Most bosses or business owners today do not even understand their workers, they do not know their strengths nor their weaknesses. They end up using them for the wrong things or misunderstanding them as being weak or not good enough.

As a great boss, you should understand what leadership entails or is all about. The position of being a boss does not mean that you should create or in still fear in your employees. There is a clear difference between fear and respect. Respect is earned and it encourages productivity, while fear breeds contempt and the employees would not produce effectively. Employees would always want to work in the convoy of leaders or bosses who are approachable. Being coactive with your employees does not in any way mean that you are bringing yourself to disrespect, although it should done professionally. Some bosses are coercive in nature and this means that they exude their authority at every given opportunity over their staff. This would only breed fear and contempt and once your workers are unhappy with your ill treatment, productivity would be low. A great boss should also make his employees engage in some vital decision making processes, this would give the workers a sense of belonging and it will encourage them to put in their best in working harder considering the recognition by their boss and they will not want to misuse such opportunity. A great boss is one who sees beyond the physical appearance of his workers, he is one who can identify their flaws, potentials and use it to make the more productive in a positive light.
