@Mataracy You are so right about this, one cannot just grow vegetables anywere especially when it's commercial system of agriculture, though such crops might survive, but not yield well.

Insecurity as you mentioned is part of what we are facing at the Northern and Eastern region of Nigeria, at present. The rate at which crops are destroyed by cattles and cattle rearers is alarming, some even get worst from people losing their hard labored crops to losing their lives. i strongly suggest one should should consider security such as fencing or robotic scare crow if the money is available, this will help in preventing or scaring away intruding animals and pest from the farm land.
