How does the NDIS use evidence-based practices in planning?

The NDIS only funds supports that are likely to be effective and beneficial for individuals, considering current good practice. This involves assessing whether there is evidence that the support has been effective and beneficial for someone with similar disability support needs.

For instance, the NDIS might already know if a support is generally suitable for someone with similar disability needs. They rely on reliable sources like published research and expert opinions. If there's no evidence to prove a support is necessary, the NDIS won't pay for it.
