Certainly, we need to be very strategic, as much as this is a good way of bringing more customers, it can also send out the wrong message. People might see your product cheaper, do would view it less of quality, to overcome this you need to do it wisely and at the right time, probably during a festive period, something like Black Friday, companies celebration or so, let there be a reason for this discount. People sometimes don't value cheap things as much as they don't want to buy expensive things either.
 
The idea of giving discounts in business as a strategy to drive sales is something that must be done very strategic or else it can result in losses too and that would be counter productive. I always advocate that slight discounts should be given only to very loyal customers and not to be given accross board. The truth is that all these discount programs are not tools to build a loyal customer base.

Am I saying that giving discounts to your customers are bad? No. Do the maths very well and ensure that you are not losing as you are embarking on discount promotions in your business.
