What is distribution?
Distribution can be defined as " the management process of ensuring that the company's goods are where they are needed, at the right time, in the right condition, and are always properly accounted for".
Without distribution of goods many good that had been produce will definitely spoil and higher loss will be recorded.
But to stop this not to happen that is why goods needed to be distributed to the necessary consumers that need it.
The channels of distribution provide the link between the supply or production and the consumption.
The marketer must have distribution objectives, having achieved on a consistent and continuous basis.
The possible distribution objectives that can be set for selected channels of distribution to achieve are;
(1) Appropriate and adequate distribution
(2) Access to the market and to target market customers
(3) Relative cost effectiveness in access and transaction value
(4) Competitive representation
(5) Reseller motivation
(6) Revenue returns from resellers
(7) Cost effectiveness in physical distribution. etc
And there are various types of distribution which can be:
(1) Through direct supply
(2) Through merchant supply
(3) Through short channel and
(4) Through long channel.
My question is why distribution is so important in the company?
